Team Challenge Aug 2013

Each month my upline gives us a challenge to use different supplies that she provides.  At the July meeting she gave us some Chevron Ribbon (pg. 173) to use on a full card.  At the August meeting everyone that participated will have their name put in the hat and one lucky winner will receive all the submissions for that month.  I haven't won yet so maybe this will be my lucky month.

For my card I used the Smoky Slate chevron ribbon paired with the design series subtles and neutrals packs.  The colors I used are Basic Black, Smoky Slate and Blushing Bride.  My Whisper White is embossed only on half the sheet with the Fancy Fan embossing foldoer (pg. 191).  I am trying to get better about decorating the inside of the card as well so I just added a Six-Sided Sampler stamp (pg. 125) along with a couple more pennants made from Blushing Bride and Basic Black dsp.

Thanks for stopping by.  Wish me luck....

Gorgeous Grunge

Hello, today's share is one of the make and takes (in my case, take and make) that we got at convention.  This uses the stamp sets Gorgeous Grunge (pg. 109) and Hello Lovely (pg. 22).  The Gorgeous Grunge images were stamped with Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay (stamped off), Summer Starfruit (stamped off) and Old Olive (stamped off).  The kit also included Bermuda Bay Co'ordinations paper, Whisper White scrap, Crisp Cantaloupe and a strip of silver glimmer paper.  The button is from the Vintage Designer Buttons (pg. 169) with some white baker's twine tied through it.  I wiped the white baker's twine over my Bermuda Bay ink pad to give it some color.  A little piece of washi tape from the Epic Day This and That finishes it off.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!  Thanks for stopping by.

CCMC261 sketch challenge

Good morning, it's finally the weekend and boy am I ready.  The parade this morning and then dinner and Toby Keith concert with my girlfriends and my daughter.   For today's share I reached for my color coach and found the combo of Smoky Slate, Pistachio Pudding and Strawberry Slush.  I love sketches so I thought I would try the sketch this week over on Create with Connie and Mary.  My stamp sets are Delicate Doilies (pg 122) and Happy Day (pg 112).  I embossed my smoky slate with the Argyle folder and the pistachio pudding with the Fancy Fan folder.  My strip of strawberry slush was cut with the Finishing Touches Edgelits and our new magnetic platform.   I added a couple of pearls to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your weekend!

Valentine page swaps

Hello, good morning.  Today I am back to sharing some of my swaps from convention.  I received these 3 sets of pages for 3 of the scrapbook page swaps I was in.  I am not sure who made the top and bottom ones, but the middle one was made by Gayle McCracken in Michigan.  Thanks ladies for the wonderful pages.

Thanks for stopping by, have a Fun Friday!

Red Hot Challenge #98

I always have to start with a sketch so I jumped over to http://redhotstampers.blogspot.com/ to come up with this card.  My colors are a little distorted on my picture, but they should actually be Sahara Sand, Soft Sky and Wisteria Wonder.  I embossed the card base with the honey comb folder and then the layer of wisteria wonder I embossed with the perfect polka dot folder.  My flowers are stamped on very vanilla with soft sky and wisteria wonder using the Flower Shop stamp set (pg 94).  I added a little dazzling details because you have to have a little sparkle.  My greeting is Sassy Salutations (pg 39) and stamped in wisteria wonder on very vanilla.  I used the Tag It framelits to cut the greeting.  The layers are the same framelit, just cut in half and sponged a little.

Thanks for stopping by.  Enjoy your Thursday.

Sketched Birthday

Hello - for today's share I am showing you a 3D swap I got at convention.  This cute adorable owl gift bag.  The size is a lunch sack with the top trimmed and folded down.  Love this little owl.

My second item to share with you is a card I made using my color coach for the color combo and then I hopped on over to http://trystampinontuesday.blogspot.com/ and used their sketch challenge.  My base color is Melon Mambo, the next layer is Whisper White stamped with the Positively Chevron stamp (pg 126) stamped with Daffodil Delight.  I then punched a circle from Melon Mambo and a scallop circle from Tempting Turquoise.  My cake is stamped on Whisper White using Sketched Birthday (pg 12) with Early Espresso.  I then colored the cake with Smoky Slate, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise.  I added a little Daffodil Delight seam binding and hand cut a couple of balloons.  Some candy dots and dazzling details finishes it off.

Hope you enjoyed today's projects.  Thanks for stopping by.  Have a Wonderful Wednesday!!

One Sheet Box

I know I already posted today, but I promised my roomies from convention that I would send them the instructions on how to make this cute little box.  This was my pillow gift to them.  In the inside I put a sewing kit, gum, chap stick and a few band-aids.  The great thing about these boxes is that they will store flat so you can make a bunch and keep them on hand for last minute gifts.  The belly band for the box can be any width but needs to be 10" long. I didn't score the band, I just wrapped it around my box and then reinforced my folds.

I am going to attempt to show you how to make these cute little boxes.  They are made with one sheet of 12 x 12 designer series paper, scored on one side at 1 1/2, 3, 3 3/4, 8 1/4, 9, 10 1/2.  Turn the paper 90 degrees and score at 3, 4 1/2, 7 1/2 and 9

With the 4 1/2" score line at the bottom, fold all the corners into the 4 1/2" line

On the other side, fold on the 1 1/2" line on each side.  You will then pop out the corners and re-fold
back down.  Make sure the corners are folded back down with the "flaps" going in the direction below.  I had some issues trying to remember how to make them hence the ripped paper where I had to pull apart and re-tape.

Add your sticky strip and then fold on the 3 3/4" line on each side.  The sides should meet in the middle.

You will then open up your box and fold back the corners so that the box is reinforced.  There will be score lines on the sides that you can fold along to make the shape of your box more like a square.

Phew..... I think you should be able to follow along from here but please don't hesitate to contact me if you need some help.

halloween swap

Oh my gosh, I am home from convention and exhausted.  We had a blast, learned a lot, got a lot and got to see sneak peaks of new things to come.  WOW is all I can say.

These pages I am showing you today are not pages I made, but I participated in 4 groups of 12 x 12 scrapbook page swaps.  I made 48 pages which was very time consuming, but all the pages I got in return was well worth it.  I love this Halloween page that I received.

Thanks for stopping by, have a Marvelous Monday!!

Walk in the Wild - team sketch

As part of our downline meetings one of the demonstrators thought we should all take turns coming up with a sketch and then everyone using that sketch to make their card.  What an amazing group we have.  The cards are awesome.  This was my take on the sketch, using Walk in the Wild stamp set.  Love this set and this is the first time I have had a chance to play with it.  I went to the color coach for my color scheme of Early Espresso, Tangerine Tango and Marina Mist.  Here is the original sketch.

June 2013 pages

We did these pages last month for my scrapbook class.  I used whisper white for the base and then used Early Espresso Core'dinations (pg 145) embossed with Perfect Polka dot folder (pg 191), Summer Starfruit and Island Indigo.  The dsp is from the Soho Subway (pg 151) pack.  I love this paper, well....actually I love all the paper in the new catalog.  I made my buttons using the crafter's clay and silicone molds (pg 167).  I was skeptical on this product, but really like it since I have started playing with it.  I stamped my title with Amazing Family stamp set (pg 116) using versamark and early espresso powder.  The labels were cut with the Apothecary Accents framelits (pg 187).  Instead of using brads, I just used the Early Espresso Candy Dots (pg 171) for my accents. A little strip of ribbon and some costal cabana baker's twine finish off the pages.

July 2013 pages

Hello all... these are the pages that we will be doing this month for my scrapbook class.  My paper colors are Real Red, Night of Navy and Whisper White.  I also used the Polka Dot Parade dsp to make my star.  The border on the left page was done with the new Chevron punch available in August with the Holiday catalog.  My stamp set is Simply Stars (pg 124), some stamped with white craft and embossed with white powder and the others were stamped in real red or night of navy.  My title was made with the big shot using the Typeset Alphabet Bigz dies (pg 192).  I "stitched" around the letters with my white gel pen and also did this around the night of navy photo mats.  The star on the right was made with 1" squares, cut on the diagonal.
