Winter Thank You Card Tutorial with Video

Winter cards don’t have to be complicated to be beautiful. This winter thank you card combines soft texture, cozy colors, and elegant details for a design that’s perfect for holiday appreciation, winter notes, or thoughtful handmade mail. The torn cardstock edge, embossed background, and subtle ribbon accents make this card feel extra special without being hard to create. I have a video for you below.

Supplies

  • Old Olive Cardstock

  • Two-Tone Old Olive Cardstock

  • Two-Tone Secret Sea Cardstock

  • Basic White Cardstock

  • Elegant Pine Snowflakes Designer Series Paper

  • Secret Sea Bordered Open Weave Ribbon

  • Pearls of Beauty

  • Heartfelt Hexagon Punch

  • Stamp Sets: Impressions of Bloom, Delicate Pines

  • Ink: Shaded Spruce, Cherry Cobbler

  • Embossing Folder: Beautiful Patterns or Lovely Stripes

Measurements

  • Old Olive Card Base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"

  • Two-Tone Secret Sea (Embossed Layer): 5 1/4" x 4"

  • Two-Tone Old Olive: 5 1/2" x 3"

  • Elegant Pine Snowflakes DSP: 5 1/2" x 2"

  • Basic White (Inside): 5 1/4" x 4"

Card Assembly

  1. Emboss the Layer
Emboss the 5 1/4" x 4" Two-Tone Secret Sea cardstock using either the Beautiful Patterns or Lovely Stripes embossing folder.

  2. Attach to Card Base
Adhere the embossed Secret Sea layer to the front of the Old Olive card base.

  3. Create the DSP Feature Layer
Center and adhere the Elegant Pine Snowflakes DSP to the Two-Tone Old Olive cardstock.

  4. Add a Torn Edge Detail
Tear the exposed edge of the Two-Tone Old Olive cardstock by pulling toward you, removing just a small amount so the white core shows through.

  5. Wrap the Ribbon
Wrap a length of Secret Sea Bordered Open Weave Ribbon around the top portion of this layer. Secure the ribbon ends to the back with adhesive.

  6. Attach to Card Front
Adhere this layered piece to the front of the card.

  7. Stamp and Add the Greeting
Stamp the word “thanks” from the Impressions of Bloom stamp set onto Old Olive cardstock with Cherry Cobbler ink. Punch it out using the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch (I used about half of the punch). Tuck the greeting slightly behind the DSP layer.

  8. Bow and Embellishments
Tie a bow using the same ribbon and adhere it to the card front. Scatter Pearls of Beauty across the front to finish.

Inside of the Card

  1. Stamp several pine boughs from the Delicate Pines stamp set onto the Basic White layer using Shaded Spruce ink.

  2. Stamp the inside greeting from Impressions of Bloom in Cherry Cobbler ink.

  3. Adhere the panel to the inside of the card.

Stamp a few pine boughs from Delicate Pines onto the envelope to coordinate with the card.

Your winter thank you card is complete—elegant, textured, and perfect for the season!
