Beautiful Sunflower Card Tutorial 🌻 With Video

Today we’re making a stunning sunflower card using embossing folders, sponge daubers, and ink blending. This technique creates a bold, textured look that really makes the sunflowers pop.

Measurements

  • Card Base: Secret Sea – 4 ¼" x 11", scored at 5 ½"

  • Layer 1: Crushed Curry – 4 ⅛" x 5 ⅜"

  • Layer 2: Basic White – 4" x 5 ¼" (x2)

  • Accent Strip: Basic White – 1" x 4"

  • Sentiment Strip: Secret Sea – ¾" x 3"

Instructions

Step 1: Adhere the Crushed Curry layer to the Secret Sea card base.

Step 2: Emboss one of the 4" x 5 ¼" Basic White pieces with the Sunflower 3D embossing folder.

Step 3: On the debossed side, lightly drag the Secret Sea ink pad across the surface. Repeat in the opposite direction with Pecan Pie ink. Use a light hand so the texture shows through.

Step 4: Color with sponge daubers:

  • Petals → Crushed Curry

  • Leaves → Mossy Meadow

  • Flower centers → Crumb Cake + Early Espresso

Step 5: Repeat this same process on the 1" x 4" Basic White strip.

Step 6: Adhere the decorated strip to the second 4" x 5 ¼" Basic White layer for the inside of your card.

Step 7: Stamp your greeting onto the ¾" x 3" Secret Sea strip with Versamark ink. Heat emboss with white embossing powder.

Step 8: Die cut the sentiment using Stylish Shapes banner die and adhere to the card front.

Step 9: Finish by scattering a few 2025–2027 In Color Flat Pearls across the card front.

Here are some other samples I have for you using the same technique.

This card was colored with Stampin' Blends, instead of sponge daubers. Background was drug with Secret Sea, the petals are Dark Darling Duckling, dark and light Daffodil Delight, the leaves are dark and light Old Olive and the centers are dark and light Crumb Cake, light Pumpkin Pie, light Pecan Pie and dark Cajun Craze.

For the purple card the background was drug with Crumb Cake and Early Espresso, the flowers are Highland Heather and Crushed Curry, the centers are Crushed Curry and Crumb Cake and the leaves are Mossy Meadow

This card was done using the same technique, just with the Jolly Holly Hybrid embossing folder. The background was drug with Mossy Meadow ink, the holly was colored with light and dark Old Olive Blends and the berries were colored with the light and dark Cherry Cobbler Blends.

Envelope Decoration ✉️

Stamp three sunflowers from the Darling Dino set onto the envelope. Color them with:

  • Daffodil Delight (petals)

  • Crumb Cake (centers)

  • Mossy Meadow (leaves)

This extra touch ties the project together beautifully!

✨ This sunflower card is full of texture and color, perfect for brightening someone’s day.
